Two lions demonstrated why they are among nature’s most feared predators, launching a brutal attack on a buffalo in the Serengeti, captured in a dramatic series of photos.
Believed to be brothers, the two lions were seen chasing down their prey, eventually taking it down and beginning their feast.

Despite its size, the fully-grown buffalo, which weighs 910kg, was no match for the powerful lions.
The breathtaking images were taken by photographer Mortiz Stragholz, showcasing the intense struggle between the predators and their prey.

The photos depict one lion approaching the buffalo from a distance before launching the deadly attack.
In a desperate attempt to escape, the buffalo fought back but was ultimately overwhelmed. One of the lions dug its claws into the buffalo as the other watched closely, ready to assist. The lions worked together, surrounding the buffalo and preventing its escape.
As the battle continued, one of the lions leaped onto the massive buffalo, showcasing these apex predators’ raw power and coordination. Eventually, the buffalo succumbed to the relentless attack.

The final images show the two lions feeding on the buffalo, now lifeless. One lion, with blood around its mouth, is captured enjoying the meal they worked so hard to secure.
These photos highlight the brutal reality of survival in the wild and the sheer power and dominance of lions in the Serengeti.
