Scarlett Johansson, known for her iconic blonde bombshell look, has taken on a new, darker appearance for her latest role in the star-studded movie “Chef.”
On Wednesday, the 28-year-old actress was seen on set in Los Angeles, debuting a brunette hairstyle with a Bettie Page-style fringe.
Fans of Scarlett might be surprised by her drastic transformation, as she was spotted with a star tattoo on each shoulder, which could be part of the movie’s makeup and costume design.
She showcased two distinct outfits that added to her edgy vibe alongside her new hairdo. She wore a black netted dress with a white undergarment and black strappy heels in one scene.
In another, she sported baggy cut-off jean shorts and a maroon vest top with a pink bra strap slipping off her shoulder.
“Chef” is directed by Jon Favreau, who also plays the role of Carl Casper. The movie follows Casper as he loses his job as a chef and starts a food truck business to reignite his passion for cooking. The cast features a star-studded lineup, including Robert Downey Jr., Sofia Vergara, and John Leguizamo.
While details about Scarlett’s character are limited, her new look suggests she could play a character with a rebellious streak. Her past roles often leaned into her 𝑠e𝑥 appeal, like in “Vicky Christina Barcelona” and “He’s Just Not That Into You.”
However, sometimes her allure works against her, as in 2011 when Director David Fincher explained why she was not selected for “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”: “It was a great audition, but the thing with Scarlett is, you can’t wait for her to take her clothes off.”
Despite occasional setbacks, Scarlett’s appeal has often worked in her favor. Recently, she replaced acclaimed actress Samantha Morton in the Spike Jonze film “Her,” where Morton had already completed her scenes before they were recast with Scarlett.
With her new hair and possible tattoos, Scarlett Johansson’s transformation will surely draw attention as “Chef” progresses through production.
