When Scarlett Johansson set up for a “blind date,” it wasn’t with a person but with a charming 12-year-old pit bull mix named Ocean.
The Hollywood star, known for her love of animals, jumped to spend a day with this shelter pup as part of a Dodo Dream Date, a new video series designed to help shelter dogs find forever homes.
Ocean was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in New York City by Muddy Paws Rescue. During her day with Scarlett, the elderly pittie enjoyed a complete spa treatment, which included a dog-friendly smoothie, a mani-pedi, and plenty of snuggles.
Scarlett even brought a bouquet of stuffed roses as a welcoming gift, which Ocean promptly destroyed enthusiastically.
The connection between Scarlett and Ocean was immediate, though they were both a bit shy at first. “At first, we were both a little shy and a little bit sort of nervous to meet,” Scarlett told The Dodo. “But she warmed up almost immediately, and we’re just getting to know each other now.”
The date took place at the office of Scarlett’s skincare line, The Outset, where Ocean tried out hydrating dog-friendly products. Scarlett’s team was thrilled to host Ocean, and everyone was excited to meet a “star” of the canine world.
Scarlett also pampered Ocean with a cucumber facial, though Ocean seemed more interested in playing with the cucumbers.
Scarlett has a history of rescuing dogs, with two pups, Maggie and Pancake, already in her family.
She hoped Ocean’s spa day would lead to a forever home. “I think you’re going to find a forever home pretty easily,” Scarlett said as Ocean showered her with kisses and wiggled her whole body with joy.
The Dream Date series has featured other celebrities, such as Antoni Porowski from “Queer Eye,” who cooked for a pit bull named Clementine in a previous episode. Like Clementine, Ocean’s time with Scarlett was successful.
By the end of their date, Scarlett couldn’t understand why Ocean hadn’t been adopted yet. You are exceptionally adorable and cuddly; that’s what we’re all looking for,” she remarked.
And the happy ending came quickly. Ocean was adopted soon after her spa day with Scarlett Johansson, proving that sometimes it takess a little love and pampering to find a forever home.
