Scarlett Johansson, the Hollywood star known for her role in “Lost in Translation,” has admitted she’s tired of being typecast in 𝑠e𝑥y roles.
In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Johansson, 29, she opened up about her career aspirations and how she doesn’t want to be seen merely as an object of desire.
The actress gained fame with roles highlighting her glamorous image, but she now seeks more diverse opportunities in the entertainment industry.
Johansson told WSJ, “I don’t want to be the ingenue anymore. It’s nice to be glamorous, but I don’t want always to be an object of desire. Because it doesn’t last.”
Instead, Johansson hopes to balance her acting career with family life. She envisions a varied career where she can still work in films, pursue theater, and raise a family. “There must exist a world where I can balance those things,” she said. “I want to be able to have it all. Selfishly.”
The pregnant star also shared her thoughts on her relationship with Frenchman Romain Dauriac, whom she met in 2012 and is now engaged to.
The couple spends most of their time in Paris, and Johansson values this relationship’s stability. “It seems so stressful not to be able to spend time with your family because you’re constantly chasing the tail of your success,” she commented.
Johansson’s desire for a more diverse career path aligns with her commitment to her profession and her family.
She is also keen to explore theater and other creative endeavors while nurturing her personal life.
With a legion of fans from her roles in “Iron Man” and “Avengers,” the actress wants to ensure she can balance the demands of stardom with her aspirations.
