Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz: A Reunion in the Works

Last Update:

Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz are reportedly in talks to collaborate again, 15 years after their memorable kiss in Woody Allen’s 2008 film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, where they starred alongside Javier Bardem in a love triangle story.

The two actresses are discussing joining Michael Fassbender and Owen Wilson in an upcoming Netflix project directed by Nancy Meyers, tentatively titled Paris Paramount.

The film centers on a filmmaking duo who, despite their romantic history and past conflicts, are forced to reunite on a film set.

Meyers wrote the script and will produce the movie, which marks her first directorial effort since The Intern in 2015, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.

Sources suggest that while deals for the actors have not yet been finalized and budget details are still being worked out, talks are progressing. Netflix has not yet commented on the development.

In a separate interview, Scarlett Johansson reflected on her early career, sharing how she felt “groomed” to become a bombshell-type actress.

Now 38, Johansson recalled how being cast in roles like Lost in Translation and Girl with a Pearl Earring at a young age led her to be objectified and typecast.

“I was about 18 or 19 at the time, coming into my own as a woman and learning about my own desirability and sexuality,” Johansson explained.

She went on to describe how she felt stuck on a particular path, often seen as the ingénue or sexualized figure in Hollywood, saying, “I was being groomed, in a way, to fit into that ‘bombshell’ category.”

Johansson also worked with Allen in his films Match Point and Scoop.
