Scarlett Johansson, known for her role in “We Bought A Zoo,” has a clear stance on relationships: she despises jealousy and controlling behavior in men.
In a recent interview with Marie Claire, she explained that such traits indicate insecurity and are a major turn-off for her.
Johansson, 28, enjoys her independence in relationships. While she understands the need for occasional check-ins with a partner, she draws the line at feeling smothered.
“I don’t like jealous behavior. I don’t mind an occasional check-in, but when somebody is passive-aggressively jealous, it’s unattractive because it shows a sort of insecurity,” she shared in the magazine’s May issue.
The actress, who was previously married to Ryan Reynolds before their divorce in July 2011, noted that her experiences with relationships have taught her valuable lessons.
While she cherishes her privacy, she is open about the growth she has experienced since her marriage to Reynolds.
“I continue to get to know myself better as I get older, which helps me in my relationships,” Johansson said.
To maintain her boundaries, Johansson avoids social media as much as possible, seeing it as a way to keep her personal life private.
“All [social media] drives me crazy. I don’t understand this need to ‘share.’ We almost exploit ourselves to feel seen,” she remarked.
Johansson has dated notable figures like Sean Penn and Jared Leto, but she has learned the importance of keeping her romantic life out of the public eye. By doing so, she finds it easier to navigate relationships without the pressure of constant scrutiny.
