Scarlett Johansson Steals the Spotlight at BAFTA Despite Wardrobe Mishap

Last Update:

Following the British Academy Film Awards, Hollywood sensation Scarlett Johansson found herself at the center of attention not only for her stellar performance on the red carpet but also for an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction at the exclusive Netflix BAFTA after-party.

Johansson, known for her roles in blockbusters like “Black Widow,” was spotted at London’s Chiltern Firehouse, enjoying the company of fellow A-listers after the prestigious event. However, her night slightly turned when she experienced a wardrobe mishap.

The 35-year-old actress, flaunting a black blazer mini-dress paired with sheer tights, unintentionally revealed laddered tights from her mid-calf up to her thigh.

Despite the mishap, Johansson maintained her composure, beaming with joy as she exited the venue in the early hours, greeted by her chauffeur-driven car.

Johansson graced the red carpet in a dazzling pink feather gown accentuated with sheer panels across her midriff at the BAFTA ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall.

Nominated for Best Actress in “Marriage Story” and Best Supporting Actress in “Jojo Rabbit,” Johansson captivated audiences with her radiant presence, though she did not secure either award.

Renée Zellweger clinched the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Judy Garland in “Judy,” while Laura Dern triumphed as Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Marriage Story.”

The event, however, wasn’t without its controversies. The lack of diversity in nominations, particularly the absence of actors of color in major acting categories, and the continual exclusion of female filmmakers from the Best Director category prompted scrutiny and calls for change within the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

BAFTA officials have pledged to review their voting processes before the 2021 awards ceremony thoroughly. They aim to address the root causes of underrepresentation and implement necessary changes to ensure a more inclusive and diverse selection of nominees.
