RSPCA inspectors have reported a troubling discovery in Leeds, where a dog resembling a “skeleton” was found abandoned on a busy footpath.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 11, when a local dog walker stumbled upon the lifeless body on Bruntcliffe Road in Morley.
The dog, a 10-year-old white and tan Staffordshire Bull Terrier, was given the name “X” by those who found him. RSPCA officers are now urging anyone with information about the dog’s background or former owner to contact them immediately.
Inspector Kris Walker described the dog’s appearance as shockingly emaciated, explaining that it was understandably distressing for the woman who found him. “The poor dog’s condition was so dire that he looked like a skeleton,” Walker said.
Veterinary examination suggests that the dog had been dead for approximately 48 hours before being discovered, leading inspectors to believe that someone discarded his frail body at the location.
The RSPCA is keen to uncover the dog’s history and ensure similar incidents do not occur in the future.
