Last week, a distressing video reached us from Romania, showing a greyhound in urgent need of help. A witness described how she saw the dog being brutally beaten by a man who then discarded it as if it were trash.
For several days, the injured dog lay there without aid, and its wounds became infested with flies. No one stepped in to help.

We received a call about a beagle in a similar plight and rushed to the location. Upon arrival, we discovered it was private property, and without the owner’s presence, we were forced to wait outside.
The injured beagle gazed at us, pleading for assistance, never wandering far from our sight. It was heart-wrenching to watch the poor creature struggling to catch the flies attacking its wounds with its mouth.

While there are many humane ways to relinquish a pet, it’s bewildering why some choose such harsh measures. After three long hours, we gained the property owner’s consent to intervene.
Upon approaching the dog, it reacted with surprising affection, and it even seemed that tears welled up in its eyes. Sadly, both its front legs and rear legs were fractured, requiring the veterinarian to stabilize them with metal rods.

We named the sweet and gentle beagle Tristan, hoping he can embrace a loving future. Despite his pain, Tristan wagged his tail and greeted us with a smile when he saw us.
Sixteen days later, Tristan took his first hopeful steps toward recovery. By day 30, he was able to move around independently—a testament to resilience and care. We are grateful to see Tristan stepping into a new life.
