On September 22, the animal rescue group GWARP received a call about an alarming case involving an elderly dog in dire need of food and water despite being seriously ill.
Although GWARP has vast experience in animal rescue, they remarked that they’d never encountered a case quite like this one.
The dog, suspected to have osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, had been neglected for years. Chained with a short tether, the animal was forced to survive on scraps and leftovers, becoming severely malnourished, exacerbating its cancer.

Adding to its plight, the dog had been subjected to physical abuse by its intoxicated owner, according to the person who reported the case. Its movements were limited to only two feet due to the short chain.
When GWARP attempted to rescue the dog, the owner refused, claiming ownership. This led the rescue team to seek help from local authorities.
One GWARP member recounted, “When we spoke with the police, the dog’s sorrow was almost audible. Thankfully, we secured the necessary paperwork, and the owner agreed to release the dog on the condition we wouldn’t file charges against him.”

GWARP immediately focused on the dog’s urgent medical treatment, including thorough examinations, blood tests, and a critical surgery to amputate and analyze the affected tissue. The rescue team commented, “We have a long road ahead.”
X-rays confirmed the presence of osteosarcoma, but fortunately, the cancer hadn’t spread to the lungs, giving the dog, now named Jordan, a slim chance of recovery despite the fast-growing tumor, which was starting to rupture the skin.
Evident signs of neglect were apparent as the tumor grew daily. To help Jordan on the path to physical and mental recovery, he received a soothing bath to cleanse him of his turbulent past.

However, the necessary next medical steps required travel to Turkey due to limitations in Azerbaijan. Jordan’s transfer was scheduled for the upcoming days.
Once in Istanbul, Jordan underwent a detailed examination that involved full-body X-rays under sedation in preparation for his critical surgery.

The surgical procedure was a success, successfully removing Jordan’s cancerous limb without any complications.
Three days after surgery, Jordan quickly adapted to his new circumstances, regaining his appetite and happily enjoying his meals.
The team urges everyone to send Jordan well wishes for a swift recovery and hopes for a bright future. “We all love you, Jordan,” they declared, expressing gratitude for his progress and optimism for the journey ahead.
