In the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, a lioness intently scans the landscape for prey while her playful cub has something else in mind.

The charming photographs capture the cub wriggling back and forth, squeezed between its mother’s front legs, as it tries to get her attention.

Despite the cub’s efforts to bury its head in her fur and seemingly cry out in a plea, the focused mother doesn’t budge. Even as the cub playfully paws at her front leg, the protective lioness remains undistracted by its antics.

These endearing images were captured by UK-based wildlife photographer Margot Raggett, who was observing the Rekero Pride of Lions.

She commented on the scene, noting that while the lionesses were on the hunt for food, their cubs were more interested in playing.

Raggett expressed her delight at the cub’s persistence in trying to engage its mother, who continued to play it cool.
