Heroic Rescuer Saves Stranded Pups from Railroad Peril

Rescuers often face emotionally difficult situations while saving animals from dangerous conditions. One such rescuer, Suzette Hall from California, encounters these challenges regularly as she strives to help animals in need.

Recently, Hall responded to an urgent call concerning two dogs living near railroad tracks. Once at the scene, she discovered a heartbreaking situation.

Hall, who leads Logan’s Legacy 29, a rescue organization based in Irvine, California, was informed about two stray dogs that had been staying on active railroad tracks for several days, always staying close to one another.

Acting swiftly, Hall headed to the location. On arrival, she only found one of the dogs. “I learned about the two dogs on the tracks through a message and went there.

I discovered a little female pup, alone and crying by the train,” Hall recounted on Facebook.

The young pup appeared distressed, crying for attention, yet she remained beside the tracks. Hall soon realized why the pup hadn’t strayed—the other dog, her closest companion, was severely injured and unable to move just a short distance away.

Approaching the scene, Hall saw the second dog with a severe leg injury, presumably hit by a vehicle, which left her unable to walk. “Seeing her pain and her inability to move was devastating,” Hall mentioned in another Facebook update.

Hall acted with determination to help the dogs, setting up a humane capture trap to safely rescue them and then transporting them to a veterinarian for urgent care.

At the clinic, Hall discovered that the injured dog, originally thought to be male, was a female, whom she named Gumball. “If her little friend hadn’t cried out for her, I might not have found her. Gumball is indeed a girl,” Hall explained.

Currently, both dogs are receiving care under Hall’s supervision and her veterinary team’s guidance. Gumball is undergoing treatment, and upon recovery, both will be placed in foster care to receive the love and protection they’ve long needed.

“I fervently hope these two remain together, except if they each find loving families that will provide them a happily-ever-after,” Hall expressed.
