An adorable moon bear named Tuffy was overjoyed when freed from nine years of captivity. His excitement peaked as he swam for the first time in his life.
Tuffy endured a problem, spending most of his nine years confined to tiny cages. However, his life turned positive when compassionate individuals stepped in to rescue him.

Animals Asia, a Hong Kong-based charity dedicated to animal welfare, orchestrated this heartwarming rescue. The organization gave Tuffy a new lease on life by relocating him to a sanctuary in Vietnam.
Upon his arrival at the sanctuary, Tuffy appeared visibly relieved. After receiving care and attention from the sanctuary’s volunteers, he was introduced to his new home, which had a water area designed especially for him.

Having never experienced the joy of splashing in water, Tuffy’s reaction was priceless. Louise Ellis of Animals Asia remarked on the charity’s website, “Coming from years of little or no water, for Tuffy, this must feel like a true oasis after being parched and in pain for so long.”
Witnessing Tuffy’s first encounter with water was a beautiful and emotional moment, clearly reflected in his happy demeanor.
Animals Asia has been dedicated to rescuing bears since its inception in 1998. The charity has saved nearly 600 bears and operates two sanctuaries, one in Vietnam and another in China.
