Ashley Boggs has dedicated her life to rescuing dogs, making it her personal mission to save as many as she can. One day, while traveling along a wooded road in Puerto Rico, she encountered an unusual sight—a concerned brown dog actively seeking help by stopping cars.
This dog wasn’t like other strays that often shy away or wander about; she appeared to have an urgent message. As Boggs got out of her vehicle, she realized this dog was a nursing mother trying desperately to find help for her puppies.
Alone in the forest with no food or water, the dog, later named Goji, faced a tough battle caring for her newborns. Thankfully, Boggs, who works with Miracles for Satos Rescue (MFSR) based in New York, arrived at the perfect moment to assist.
Initially, Boggs found two puppies close to Goji, who were friendly and easily accommodated in her car. However, more cries from the forest meant more puppies needed rescuing.
Determined, Boggs went deeper into the woods and discovered four additional puppies near an abandoned box. With unwavering dedication, she rescued all seven puppies, ensuring they were safe in her vehicle.
Once back at the rescue facility, Boggs and her team provided the essential care Goji and her puppies required. While they were frightened and hungry, they were now on the path to a fresh start.
Miracles for Satos Rescue, known for transporting rescued dogs from Puerto Rico to New York to find loving homes, took Goji and her puppies under their care. The family settled into a foster home where the puppies began socializing with other dogs and learning basic behaviors. Goji, an affectionate dog, quickly adjusted to the new setting.
“She is the absolute best dog,” the MFSR team shared on Facebook, highlighting Goji’s love for both dogs and humans, and her fondness for cuddles and performing tricks.
Affectionately named Raspberry, Blueberry, Gooseberry, Cloudberry, Blackberry, and Strawberry, the puppies found a nurturing environment with Goji by their side. The MFSR team humorously explained, “We named them after berries because we picked them from the bushes.”
In her new home, Goji no longer needed to worry about protecting her family. She transformed into a loving and happy dog, bringing smiles to everyone she encountered.
“Her favorite spot is on someone’s lap during walks, and she’s a volunteer favorite due to her sweet nature,” detailed the MFSR on Facebook.
Before long, each pup in the Berry family found a loving home. Once abandoned to life in the wild, they now thrive in their forever homes, bringing joy to their new families.
