The dedicated team at Bali Paws is known for rescuing neglected and mistreated animals, and their reward comes from seeing these adorable creatures flourish in loving homes.
During one of their missions, a team member stumbled upon a vulnerable little puppy, tucked away inside a doghouse on a residential property. The puppy was in a distressing condition, suffering from severe mange that left her nearly hairless and in pain. Additionally, she had an infection in one of her eyes.
Desi, one of the devoted rescue workers, revealed that this unfortunate puppy had spent her life confined in a cage, used solely for breeding. Once she no longer appeared healthy and cute, her previous owners heartlessly abandoned her. Determined to help, Desi managed to coax the frightened pup out with kindness and care.
“She was incredibly calm as soon as I picked her up,” Desi recounted. “I think she sensed that I meant her no harm.”
The team named the pup Lucy Ray. With medical care and nourishment, Lucy Ray began to heal physically, revealing a sweet temperament and a love for cuddling. Over seven weeks, she gained weight, interacted with other dogs, and experienced walking on grass for the first time, all within the safety and warmth of a loving environment.
Soon enough, Bali Paws found Lucy Ray a forever home she deserved in Centreville, Virginia—a world away from Bali. Matt and Brianna were drawn to Lucy Ray the moment they saw her pictures and learned her story. When the little dog finally arrived, they instantly fell in love.
“We both fell head over heels for her,” Brianna shared. “She was so adorable, and it felt like she immediately bonded with us and claimed a place in our hearts.”
Now, Lucy Ray enjoys a life full of pampering, living comfortably as one of the most cherished dogs. According to her Instagram, she has seamlessly transitioned “from Bali streets to silky sheets” and is thriving in her new home.
“She shows us her love and appreciation every day, and we return that love tenfold,” remarked Matt.
Brianna expressed admiration for Lucy Ray’s ability to forgive and trust despite her difficult start in life. “It’s miraculous how sweet, loving, and trusting she is after everything she’s endured.”
