Earlier today, around noon, a severely malnourished dog was found abandoned in the parking lot of the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS).
A visitor, who was there to drop off donations, noticed the dog and immediately informed the KHS staff. The staff quickly moved the dog to their Veterinary Services department to provide urgent care.
The team at KHS sprang into action, attempting to save the dog’s life by warming him up with electric blankets and administering warm intravenous fluids.

The dog, whom they have named Ethan, was in such a fragile state that he couldn’t even lift his head. According to the staff, Ethan is the thinnest dog they have ever encountered that was still alive.
Ethan weighed a mere 38 pounds, significantly underweight for a dog of his size, which should be around 80 pounds.
His skin was stretched tightly over his bones, revealing his skeletal frame, and his muscles had wasted away as his body desperately searched for energy sources.

Additionally, he was covered in feces and urine, underscoring the harsh conditions he had endured.
Following intensive care, including bathing and special medical examinations, Ethan has undergone a remarkable transformation. The dedicated efforts of the KHS team have given this once forsaken dog a new lease on life.
A heartfelt thanks go out to everyone involved!
