Tika’s story began in the most heartbreaking way. Severely emaciated and barely clinging to life, she had suffered a vicious attack that left the left side of her face severely wounded. Alone in the wilderness, she had given up hope—until a compassionate Border Patrol agent noticed her struggling and decided to act.
Saved Just in Time
When the agent first encountered Tika, her condition was dire. The wounds on her face were infected, and her frail body was barely holding on. Without hesitation, he rushed her to The Buddy Foundation, a rescue organization based in Eagle Pass, Texas.
“Tika is a walking miracle and we’re so glad we found her when we did. She would not have survived another day out there in the condition she was in,” the rescue shared on Facebook.
Despite being saved, Tika’s journey to recovery was far from over. Unable to eat or stand, she required immediate professional care, so she was transferred to a local veterinary clinic.
The Road to Recovery
For the first ten days, Tika remained in intensive care, receiving IV fluids and round-the-clock attention. Slowly, she began to regain her strength. The sight of her eating from a syringe for the first time was a turning point—a sign that she was determined to fight and win her battle.
After days of lying curled on a blanket, Tika took her first steps, signaling that she was ready for a foster home.
Princess Tika Finds a Home
The rescue found Tika a loving foster mom who welcomed her with open arms. In her new environment, Tika began to thrive. She made friends, embraced her comfy new home, and started to show her playful and sweet personality.
Despite a setback when she was diagnosed with canine epilepsy, Tika’s resilience shone through. She continued to enjoy her new life, determined not to let her condition define her.
A Forever Family
Tika’s sweet nature and zest for life captured the heart of her foster mom, who soon realized that she couldn’t part with her. After a few wonderful weeks in foster care, Tika was officially adopted into a loving forever home.
“She’s so grateful for everyone that came together to save her little life just in time. Today she is alive and happy,” the rescue shared in a heartfelt post.
